Removing Stain From Your Log Home

A fresh new coat of stain to your log home can make it look brand new!  Maybe you have used one brand of stain since the home was built and either want to change the color or change the stain completely.  But first the existing stain on the log home or cabin must be removed.  There are a few options out there such as media blasting and deck stripper.  Media blasting is a great way to go, but can cost thousands of dollars.

Want to go with a do-it-yourself alternative?  Perma-Chink offers two products for removing older stains and finishes.  S-100 Finish Remover and StripIt Finish Remover.  You should apply the finish remover from bottom to top and give it a little time to work on the stain.  Then rinse it off with a power washer.  Here is a video showing how it works.  You can check out the products over at Perma-Chink.

Hi Karen, you can use a pressure washer, however you want to be careful doing so.  Start from the top and work your way down at a 45 degree angle.  You also want to keep it at a lower psi and one foot away from the log wall.  If you have any further questions, please give us a call at 800-341-1566.  Thanks.
