Ward in the News

Ward & the Presque Isle Snowmobile Club work together

When a devastating fire destroyed the Presque Isle Snowmobile club in Presque Isle, Maine, on January 25th, 2009, Ward was contacted about providing a new and improved building.   The fire department arrived on scene around 2:20A.M. to find the structure fully involved and the roof completely collapsed.  The cause of the fire was undetermined and they may never know the exact cause.  The original structure was built out of locally milled logs in the mid 1980s and constructed with nearly all volunteer help working evenings, weekends, and holidays.

After many board meetings a plan was finally taking shape.  The Club elected to stay within the same footprint as the previous where there was already an existing slab in place. Ward Cedar Log Homes was chosen as their log package provider and the details of the building soon took shape.  The new building will have updated handicap accessible bathrooms, a large updated kitchen, storage rooms, utility room, and more efficient open floor space.

The Club opted to go with Ward's 6x8 D-shape milled log profile for a more contemporary look with a simple scissor truss roof.  The Snowmobile Club took delivery in mid-August and is being erected by local contractors.  The club's 130 plus members are excited for the building's completion in order to start holding events once again.  They are on schedule to have the new Clubhouse finished by Maine's snowmobile season.

This has been a fun, exciting, and rewarding project for Ward Cedar Log Homes.  We look forward to the Presque Isle Snowmobile Club's grand opening in December!!
