Are two better than one?

Kitchen islands have grown. Providing more storage, more workspace, and sometimes increased eating bar seating, a large kitchen island ranks high on many home buyer's wish lists. Some designs, such as the "Aden" plan, have a single large island. Other floor plans such as the "Murnane Manor II" showcase two separate islands.

So...are two better than one? First, the size and shape of your kitchen will largely dictate what's possible in terms of island size. Beyond that, how you envision using your island(s) needs to be considered. Two cooks in the household may find separate islands preferable. Dual islands may also facilitate traffic flow in and thru the kitchen. But for homeowners who like large, uninterrupted kitchen work surfaces, a single large island may be perfect!
