Dust

Your home puts on about 40 pounds per year

40 pounds of dust!  Now, there's nothing you can do to completely eliminate dust, as clothing fibers, pet dander, dead skin cells and items we track in from outdoors add to the problem daily.  But here are a few steps you can take to reduce dust in your home:
  • Ceiling fans attract dust.  They're difficult to reach, so they're not cleaned often.  Hunter® "Dust Armor" ceiling fan blade coating repels dust build-up on the blades.
  • HVAC ductwork continuously recirculates construction debris, dust, mold, etc.  Professional air duct cleaning would probably amaze you in terms of respiratory problems and less frequent dusting!
  • A whole-home high performance air cleaner can trap over 99% of dust and airborne pollutants.  The selection of the air cleaner must be made in concert with the home's HVAC system due to airflow issues.
  • Central vacuum systems with the collection canister located in the garage are another smart choice.  HEPA-rated filtration means you're not simply kicking allergens back into the air when vacuuming.
